![]() Again at the command prompt on the Pi, enter the following command where X.X.X.X is the local network IP address of the gaming PC. Last edited by IanCol on Fri 11:07 pm, edited 1 time in total. So, Steam is not likely to function under an RPi environment, judging by its dependencies. The final step is to pair your gaming PC to the Pi. Comparing the Raspberry Pi 3B, 3B+, 4 and 400 with the Steam Link device. To get a better idea of which Raspberry Pi model is best to use they can be compared to the original Steam Link device. There is an icon in the top left of the screen, so click that to open the terminal. Steam Link can be installed using the Raspberry Pi models 3B, 3B+, 4B and 400. Steam Link is a nifty technology that allows you to stream games from one device, such as your computer or laptop, to another device, such as a Raspberry Pi. So I decided to debug the issue and created a guide with an easy install script. Install Steam Link The Raspberry Pi will boot to the desktop, and from there we need to open a terminal. ![]() My test method was to put Geralt of Rivia (Witcher 3) in an open field, and just letting the camera rotate around him. I couldn't find any existing resources for installing steamlink on 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS, and steamlink doesn't work out-of-the-box. I cannot see it clearly on the graphs, but every now and then (multiple times per minute), the RPI stream seems to freeze a bit, as if the decoder cannot process fast enough. I've tried monitoring the system with htop on a different screen to see if any other process spikes up and steals CPU time, but I didn't notice anything - or the refresh rate of htop is probably too low. In my experience, the traditional link hardware performs more consistent and smooth than the RPI. ![]() I have this on all quality settings, from speed to balanced to beautiful. In my experience, the traditional link hardware performs more consistent and smooth than the RPI. ![]() I've tested the two devices at the same place, using the same network cable, attached to the same TV. I've set the GPU memory split of the pi to 128 mb. I'm running the latest Debian Stretch, fully updated, with the latest steamlink executable from the repo. I thought I'd install the latter to see if the performance is the same. I have both the original Steam Link hardware, and a RPI 3B+ board.
